South of the Payette river, resting in its own river valley, lies the picturesque city of Emmett; home to about 6,500 residents and surrounded by an exquisite landscape of orchards, vineyards, farmland, rolling hills and mountains.

What began as a farming and fruit growing valley dubbed the Valley of Plenty, has become a warm and vibrant community with an abundance of agricultural activity, traditional family values, and a stable business environment. Residents come from diverse walks of life, but come together just the same; and are passionate about sharing what the area has to offer.

Emmett is a town set apart by a mix of modern and historic structures and neighborhoods with quaint historic homes, churches, and schools; and by the availability of fresh, organic, and locally grown products such as: cherries, apples, apricots, and peaches to name a few. A friendly and inclusive community, Emmett hosts a variety of activities and festivals throughout the year which also make it unique. It is also set apart by location.

Although Emmett is part of of the Boise City – Nampa Metropolitan Area, it is about 30 minutes north of Meridian on HWY 16, giving it less of a bedroom community feel and more independent distinction for those who prefer more solitude. Although Emmett retains that small town feel, many of the necessary amenities are readily available. Valor Health Hospital offers a wide variety of health and care services. There are multiple convenience stores and markets, including an Albertson's, for all your grocery needs. And in Emmett, whether you bike, hike, hunt, or fish, the outdoors are your playground and at your feet 365 days a year.

The current city government in Emmett is dedicated to progress in education and health and wellness. Mayor Gordon Petrie recently walked an average of 17 miles per day, even scheduling walking staff meetings, to win the Idaho School Walking Challenge and $5,000 to spend toward school or park improvements. Members of the community are encouraged to be part of Team Emmett; where the mayor and city council work with volunteer residents to make Emmett more than just an outstanding place to live and raise a family; but THE place to live and raise a family.
